The Accounting System That Works

ERP accounting software is an application that processes and records accounting transactions within the functional modules like accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable and trial balance. Basically, it works as an accounting information system. It can be developed in-house by the organization or company using it. It may also be purchased from a third party, or may be a combination of a third party application software package with local modifications. It greatly varies in its complexity and cost. ERP software is usually composed of different modules, classes of sections that deal with a specific area of accounting. Among the typical core modules, these are the most popular: Accounts receivable, where the company enters money received; Accounts payable, where the company enters its bills and pays the money it owes; Billing, which churns out invoices to clients or costumers; Purchase order, where the company records ordered inventory; and Sales order, where the company records customer orders for supply of inventory. Here are some of the non-core modules: Debt collection, where the company tracks uncollected overdue bills; Electronic payment processing, where the company sends and received money thru electronic process; Expense, where employee business-related expenses are entered; Payroll, where the company tracks and takes care of the salary and wages and related taxes; and Purchase requisitions, where the company’s request for purchase orders are made, approved and tracked. Most midmarket and larger ERP accounting software applications are sold through resellers, developers and consultants. These are specialists who are able to customize ERP software applications according to the specific needs of your organization. One of the most common software that has been sold through this process is Sage Accpac. In this process, the organization usually passes on a license fee to the software vendor and will charge the client for installation customization and support services. Clients however roughly pay 50%-200% on the price of the software through implementation and consulting fees. Sage Accpac ERP is a reliable and well-entrenched software application used by many companies and backed by an army of developers, resellers, and consultants. You can therefore be sure it would be worth your while investing on it.
