Microsoft’s Dynamics Software Products for Businesses: Enterprise Class Crm

The idea that customer relationship software is just for enterprise class businesses has long gone. Ask your CRM software provider for details of the developments in customer relationship software for businesses of all sizes and you will be met with a barrage of color brochures giving you the lowdown on the market as it stands today.

Microsoft Dynamics Suite has evolved from MS Great Plains, and MS CRM recognizes that there is a market for customer relationship software for mid-range and small businesses. No longer is there a barrier to implementing a MS CRM solution due to cost, with a range of solutions to fit the all business budgets.

Microsoft Dynamics Suite integrates seamlessly to provide your employees with information on demand concerning customers and prospect at their fingertips. The benefits of having customer information centralized in one place for everyone in your company to utilize are obvious and self-evident. The idea of being able to capture, organize and disseminate customer and prospect information at the touch of a button is now a reality.

Microsoft Dynamics Suite provides small and mid-range businesses with the ability to centralize all client and prospect contact throughout the sales cycle, from intial enquiry, pre-sales meeting, order, despatch and after-sales customer support. More than this, Microsoft Dynamics Software delivers information to everyone in your business the information they need on business activity when they need it and presented in a format that is understandable and tailored to meet the individual needs of your business.

Microsoft CRM provides mobile and remote workers with the up-to-date information on the status of prospect and customer enquiries far faster and more accurately than any traditional methods currently employed by businesses today. Using Microsoft Dynamics Suite any business is able to deploy the benefits of customer relationship management software to provide the benefits of enhanced customer service, avoidance of non-productive activity and concentration of resources on maximizing revenues.

Microsoft Dynamics Suite is implementated with minimal business disruption to existing business practices, and quickly adopted by users familiar with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and Publisher. Customer and prospect information collected by a MS Dynamics solution is available at your employee’s fingertips and intuitively adopted as it has been designed to integrate seamlessly with existing Microsoft applications.

Importing client information from the Microsoft Dynamics Suite to applications such as Word and Excel for marketing and sales campaigns is child’s play, while mobile and remote workers can continue to be supported from their base by accessing Microsoft Dynamics Software information by using their Outlook email client.

Small and mid-range businesses are now in a position to recover the competitive advantage in delivering customer service that has been eroded by enterprise class customer relationship software, without the need to allocate the enterprise class budgets previously required and with no loss in functionality. The idea that customer relationship software is solely for enterprise class businesses no longer applies, you need only consult with your Microsoft CRM software provider to learn what is available for your business.

Process Manufacturing Software Powers Lean Enterprise

Escape Velocity Systems (EVS) (www.evs-sw.com) recently announced that process (formula based) manufacturing operations are increasingly focused on lean manufacturing principles of continued process improvement.

According to EVS President Evan Garber, “We realize that good ERP software is the hub of information in any process manufacturing enterprise. Timely, reliable, and centralized data are non-negotiable elements for businesses competing in the 21st century. Few technology solutions are available in the process manufacturing arena; even fewer focus on lean. Enterprise software should power businesses towards a Lean enterprise and that powerful technology drives long term ROI with customizable and flexible software.”

Process Manufacturing describes a manufacturing process whereby materials are blended, cooked, or mixed as opposed to assembled from discrete units. Some needs common to process manufacturing industries are:

•	Formulas (or recipes) are ratios, not static bills of material

•	Split bill of material: several products can share one formula, yet have different packaging

•	Flexibility with units of measure

•	Stringent quality control, with recall ability

•	Lot grading / attribute tracking and calculation

Escape Velocity Systems (EVS) was formed in 2001 to combine specific industry knowledge related to process manufacturing, distribution, and ERP implementations with cutting edge software development. The company focus is to create tools that enable mid-market enterprises to achieve their goals, focusing on lean processes and ROI.

The term escape velocity refers to the speed that is necessary for an object to overcome gravity and soar into space. EVS provides direct applications for businesses looking for a catalyst, not just a software package. Process manufacturers require the best software solution coupled with industry experience that will accelerate the velocity with which they race towards their goals. The gravity of status-quo opposes aggressive, cutting edge organizations as they strive towards high quality and short lead time delivery while reducing inventories and operating costs.

What is Enterprise Resource Planning System- ERP

What is ERP – Enterprise Resource Planning

What is ERP is a widely spread question when it comes to business. Basically, this is a system for integration of business management and modern technology. This system has the ability to integrate with the core business processes to a specific business and to accomplish specific business objectives. In other words ERP is a wonderful mixture of Business Management Practices, Specific Business Objectives and Information Technology.

On an universal platform there are two operating processes – one, which acquires information from the selected applications and one, which supplies information to these applications- this is consists the core of ERP.

The large business organisations often keep their information on many different servers, kept in different functional units. These types of info islands may service one functional unit, but it is useless in enterprising wide performance, speed and efficiency.

The term ERP was originally created to describe the way in which a large organisation planned to use its resources. These systems were used mainly in industrial types of companies. However, today this term can be applied to any type of company, no matter of its kind or magnitude.

Today`s ERP software can enterprise many functions and integrate them in a single database. These functions can be Human Resources, Customer Relationship Management, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Manufacturing, Warehouse Management and Logistics. Previously these functions were supported by separate software for each of them, which was e prerequisite for mistakes and slowness, but today is different – they can be united under the ERP Systems.

If a system can provide the business with a range of functionalities and features like widespread, finest business processes, flexibility, modularity & openness, this software system is considered ERP.

ERP Systems are one of the best business solutions for every company type

Integrated Enterprise Resource Management Helps Control Information Flow

Any business operating today, in the age of the Internet and advanced communications technology has to deal with an overwhelming amount of information. This information concerns both internal and external factors, such as the functions of different departments, the inquiries generated by customers, inventory and/or service data, etc. All of this information needs to be processed, integrated and interpreted correctly in order to build a correct picture of the business. Then management can properly assess the best direction for the business.

Fortunately, there is a system for businesses that can satisfy this requirement, even to the level of tangible assets. The system is known as enterprise resource planning software, or ERP. Actually, ERP is partially a misnomer; the software does no planning, and ‘resource’ is largely a negligible term. The key term to focus on is ‘enterprise’. ERP software is designed to take all of the information flows from departments and the functions of those departments in a given enterprise and integrate them onto a single computer system. This computer system is then meant to aid those department’s different needs from the same software program.

As many business commentators have noted, ERP is very ambitious. It seeks to create a single program that can serve the needs of finance as well as human resources and inventory. Before ERP came along, each of those departments typically had their own computer software systems that were designed specifically for those departments. It is easy to imagine the kind of effect a system like ERP would have on a business that recently implemented it.

If installed and integrated correctly, the business would experience a stupendous increase in efficiency. Take the journey of a single customer service inquiry, for example, such as an email. Under the old system, the email would typically be printed out and mailed to various departments using the “in-basket/out-basket” method. This method results in delays, lost inquiries and the introduction of errors as the inquiry is keyed into different computer systems. With customer orders, this problem is even worse: eventually, no one in the company knows where the order went, which leads to the familiar refrain “You’ll have to call the warehouse.”

An integrated ERP system puts an end to this madness. Instead, a single software system is created that has modules roughly corresponding to the old standalone computer systems. This lets someone in human resources, for example, look into the financial part of the software in order to see if a particular employee was raised to a higher salary, or alternately fired.

Obviously this represents a huge increase in efficiency and a decrease in the time it takes to fulfil customer orders and inquiries. As every business knows, the faster a customer order can be turned into an invoice, the faster it will turn into revenue. Thus, ERP offers faster profits with little to no errors or delays, which makes the customers happy. It represents a great step forward for business information technology and the private sector as a whole.

Benefits of ERP Software

ERP system introduces efficiency and improvement of its business processes. Good enterprise software helps you to achieve transparency and availability of data across all business functions. It gives right information at the right time to the right people for effective decision making. This decision would be based on accurate information, which will give positive result and increase productivity.

ERP software helps you to optimize your human resource management and asset management. It also improves financial management. Trail balance, balance sheet, cash in hand, cash in bank, top supplier, top customer, ABC analysis, dead stock, WIP (work in progress) and other important reports are ready at any point of time. It helps in achieving better efficiency in organization reporting. ERP software streamlines the supply chain management and improves customer relationship management.

Enterprise resource planning software ensures data security and data scalability: organization can customize the enterprise software according to their requirements. It adopts systems that address changing technologies. It gives better ROI (return on investment). Organization can increase turnover with same human resource. There is a misconception that, ERP is for IT department and they will get more benefits, but it is not true. During implementation and after go-live, IT department responsibility is higher than other department.

Proper training gives better output from the new system. Lack of proper training to user results wrong entry and create problem. Top management should understand the need of detailed user training. Ultimately, user is going to use this enterprise resource planning software.

Managing Change With Enterprise Resource Planning Software

Most ERP systems are designed to fulfill the majority of a business’s needs – as captured at a single point in time. The inventory of business processes is typically impressive in its complexity and completeness, and the ERP system installed may be counted on to reliably trudge along its pre-determined path for years. It’s an idea that seems comforting: “We’ll get all our processes figured out – we’ll follow best practices – we’ll use enterprise resource planning to fix everything once and for all.”

It is a noble goal but it overlooks an important reality for many organizations: things change. That snapshot of the business when its ERP system was first implemented is remarkably different from the business’s state a few years later. Indeed, sometimes it takes only a matter of months to render that snapshot as quaintly dated as an old box of Polaroids in the basement. The days of trying to cast business processes in stone are a thing of the past for most companies. There are simply too many pressures, both internal and external, to expect any kind of rigid business process management software to keep up. Mergers and acquisitions, re-organizations, compliance management can all play havoc with the status-quo.

Certainly that’s the findings of CFO Research Services in their paper The High Cost of Change for ERP. One-third of the polled finance executive said “their companies have reconfigured their entire ERP system, entailing system-wide modification”. They also report that “many mid size companies spend more than million a year to continue to modify and update their ERP systems.” Note that this is not part of standard maintenance; these expenses are on top of anticipated maintenance.

Does it make sense to implement an enterprise resource planning system with such a short expiry date? Not really… but companies resigned to the substantial spend of regularly re-tooling their ERP systems may feel trapped and without options. Change is inevitable… and so is ERP system spend when you are dealing with enterprise management software that isn’t architect for change.

There is an alternative enterprise resource planning solution from Agresso, well-known in Europe and establishing a quickly growing presence in North America. Agresso Business World was specifically designed to address frequent, ongoing change and the company is targeting organizations it calls Businesses Living in Change (BLINC). Regardless of the vertical market sector, any organizations that operate in an evolving environment, or need to respond to the unexpected share a common requirement: agility. In particular, they require post-implementation agility – the ability to make changes quickly and easily after their ERP system implementation is complete.

Boasting a unique architecture, this enterprise resource planning software allows business users, rather than ERP systems consultants or IT resources, to effect changes in the ERP system, directly in the graphical user interface. It is Agresso’s unique “VITA architecture” that enables true post-implementation agility and it is this capability that differentiates Agresso’s ERP software system from the crowd. VITA combines the data, process and information delivery models into a single cohesive unit. Make a change in any one of these areas and it automatically and intelligently flows throughout the system, making all associated changes and adjustments. The change does not need to be redone or re-checked for accuracy anywhere else. And that makes change fast, easy, inexpensive and non-disruptive.

Agresso offers a fully integrated suite of enterprise resource planning capabilities, including Financial Management, Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting, Procurement Management, Human Resources and Payroll, Project Costing and Billing, Business Process Automation, Field Service Management & Automation and Reporting & Analytics.

For organizations that need enterprise resource planning software capable of adapting to their needs over the long term, they need to ask some hard questions of their ERP systems vendors. Determining the total cost of ownership is critical… but simple maintenance and support costs are only half the equation when it comes to enterprise management software. A better metric is, according to Brian Somner of TechVentive is the “Total Cost of Change”. This more realistic view goes beyond license, maintenance and upgrade costs; it considers the substantial costs of accommodating business change scenarios in the ERP system.

Any organization facing frequent, ongoing change – especially organizations that accept and embrace this reality – should be talking to Agresso about their enterprise resource planning solution. There is substantial money to be saved, considerable disruption to be avoided, and business opportunities to be seized with an ERP system like Agresso. Agile organizations need agile enterprise resource planning, and Agresso uniquely fits the bill.

What is Enterprise Resources Planning ERP?: In today’s dynamic and turbulent business ënvironment, there is a strong need for the organisations to become globally competitive.

What is Enterprise Resources Planning ERP?: A data tampering scenario might involvë a terrorist altering a Bill of Materials so as to put poison in food products, or other sabotage. [ERP] security helps to prevent abuse as well.

What is Enterprise Resources Planning ERP?: Some organizations – typically those with sufficiënt in-house [IT] skills to integrate multiple software products – choose to only implement portions of an [ERP] system and develop an external interface to other [ERP] or stand-alone systems for their other application needs. For instance, the PeopleSoft HRMS and Financials systems may be perceived to be better than SAP’s HRMS solution. And likewise, some may perceive SAP’s manufacturing and [CRM] systems as better than PeopleSoft’s equivalents.

What is Enterprise Resources Planning ERP?: The blurring of entërprise boundaries can cause problems in accountability, lines of responsibility, and employee morale.

What is Enterprise Resources Planning ERP?: Think of the differënt systems across your business at the moment, whether manual or automated. A Customer places an order. How often is this order entered into various systems in different departments; from finance to distribution to sales and marketing? Not only is this time consuming, but [IT] also creates the opportunity for errors.

What is Enterprise Resources Planning ERP?: Once implemënted, the [ERP] system brings tremendous advantages. Because all systems are joined together, all departments can more easily share information.

What is Enterprise Resources Planning ERP?: In the mid 1990s, [ERP] solutions expandëd to include ordering systems, financial and accounting systems, asset Management and human resource Management systems.

What is Enterprise Resources Planning ERP?: Typically, the delivëry of best practice applies more usefully to large organizations and especially where there is a compliance requirement such as IFRS, Sarbanes-Oxley or Basel II, or where the process is a commodity such as electronic funds transfer. This is because the procedure of capturing and reporting legislative or commodity content can be readily codified within the [ERP] software, and then replicated with confidence across multiple businesses who have the same business requirement.

What is Enterprise Resources Planning ERP?: ERP stands for “enterprisë resource planning.” The definition of enterprise resource planning is, essentially, an integrated software solution used to manage a company’s resources. Business planning systems have been evolving for decades, and ERP, enterprise resource planning, is the current generation.

What is Enterprise Resources Planning ERP?: ERPs are cross-functional and entërprise wide. All functional departments that are involved in operations or production are integrated in one system.

What is Enterprise Resources Planning ERP?: Customisation work is usually undertaken as bëspoke software development on a time and materials basis. Because of the specialist nature of the customisation and the ‘one off’ aspect of the work, [IT] is common to pay in the order of 0 per hour for this work. Also, in many cases the work delivered as customisation is not covered by the [ERP] vendors Maintenance Agreement, so while there is typically a 90-day warranty against software faults in the custom code, there is no obligation on the [ERP] vendor to warrant that the code works with the next upgrade or point release of the core product.

What is Enterprise Resources Planning ERP?: Put simply, this means that all your business data is hëld in a central data file and that all enterprise activity, such as raising orders, receiving goods and completing work operations, is recorded in this data file as [IT] happens.

What is Enterprise Resources Planning ERP?: The survival guide to compëtitiveness is to be closer to the Customer and deliver value added product and services in the shortest possible time. This, in turn, demands integration of business processes of an enterprise.

What is Enterprise Resources Planning ERP?: ERP systems typically handle thë manufacturing, logistics, distribution, inventory, shipping, invoicing, and accounting for a enterprise.

What is Enterprise Resources Planning ERP?: There arë many different systems in a large enterprise’s “back office,” including planning, manufacturing, distribution, shipping, and accounting.

Reasons of Enterprise Resource Planning Failures

ERP is the acronym of Enterprise Resource Planning. Multi-module ERP software integrates business activities across various functional departments, from product planning, parts purchasing, inventory control, product distribution, to order tracking. ERP has transformed the way multi-billion dollar corporations conduct their businesses. Successful implementation of ERP systems could save tens of millions of dollars and increase employee satisfactions, customer satisfactions and sustain competitive advantages in every-changing marketplace. Corporate executives are often perplexed by the stories that how reputable corporations (Hershey Foods, etc.) have failed miserably and lost ten of millions of dollars in their ERP endures.

The failures of ERP projects are preventable if we can identify the common causes of the failures regardless the companies and industries that implement them.

An ERP system is the combination of ERP software, the business processes that the ERP transforms, the users of the ERP system, and the computer systems that run the ERP applications. The failures of a ERP project is often the result of the failures in one or more of those four components. The failures in computer systems (hardware and operating systems) are much easier to identify and to fix, so we’ll examine the failures in software implementation, business process and user acceptance.

Failure of ERP Software Implementation

Module-based ERP software is the core of ERP systems. Most ERP projects involve significant amount of customizations. Packaged ERP software modules have built-in functionality that work in a standard and simplified enterprise environment. However, every organization is unique in data requirements and business processes. It is the customizations that transform packaged ERP software into ERP software that meets organizations’ individual business processes and operations. Long and expensive customization efforts often result the pass of release deadline and budget overrun. Customizations may make the software more fragile and harder to maintain when it finally goes to production. Major changes may be required in the later stage of the implementation as a result of incomplete requirements and power struggles within organizations

The integration of ERP systems with the IT infrastructures also challenges ERP project teams. The use of appropriate implementation methodologies can often make or break a ERP project.

Failure of Accommodating Evolution of Business Processes

According to Anthony, R. A, business processes fall into three levels – strategic planning, management control and operational control. Organizations continuously realign their business processes of all levels in response to the ever-changing market environment. Many ERP systems aren’t flexible enough to accommodate evolution of business processes. many ERP system need a major overhaul in every a couple of years.

Failure of User Acceptance

The users of ERP systems are employees of the organizations at all levels. ERP projects usually modify the company’s business processes which create extra workload for employees who use them initially. They may not think that the workflow embedded in the software are better than the ones they currently use. Ongoing end-user involvement and training may ease the difficult in organization’s adaptation of new systems and new business processes.
